How to sign up and setup an Akismet account for your WordPress website
No one likes spam. It’s annoying and it hurts your website’s credibility. That’s why we recommend you subscribe to Akismet.
Akismet is a spam filtering service that catches unsolicited comments and pingbacks so you don’t have to worry about filtering them out manually. Although every WordPress site comes pre-installed with the Akismet plugin, you’ll need to subscribe to Akismet first before we can activate it on WordPress (we’ll show you how to do just that in a sec!)
Why we use it
We know comment moderation is a time-consuming task, and Akismet can help save hours of manual filtering since it catches spam comments before they even land in your moderation queue as pending. This means you can focus your time and energy on moderating comments made by real users.
How to subscribe to Akismet
- Go to the Akismet Sign Up page and subscribe to the “Plus” plan
- Enter your credit card information and select only 1 site in the dropdown
- Once complete, you will receive an email with an API key
- Please forward the API key to dev@thirdwunder.com so we can use it to activate the plugin
