These guidelines outline the standardized naming conventions for all design assets. The goal is to maintain consistency, ensure searchability, and enable easy sorting within file systems.

Design Files

File Name Structure

[YYYY]-[MM][Channel]-[AssetType][Language][ProjectName][Dimension]_[Version]

Component Breakdown

  1. [YYYY]-[MM]:
    • Use a 7-character format (e.g., 2025-01) for clear date representation.
  2. [Channel]:
    • Represents the platform or distribution medium.
    • Abbreviations:
      • Social Media: FB (Facebook), IG (Instagram), LI (LinkedIn), TW (Twitter/X), TT (TikTok).
      • General Design Files: DS (Design).
  3. [AssetType]:
    • Describes the type of asset. Common abbreviations include:
      • GPH (Graphic)
      • VID (Video)
      • CAR (Carousel)
      • HDR (Header)
      • BNR (Banner)
      • LOG (Logo)
      • PRS (Presentation)
      • INF (Infographic)
  4. [Language]:
    • Specifies the language of the asset.
    • Use standard two-letter abbreviations: EN (English), FR (French), ES (Spanish).
  5. [ProjectName]:
    • A concise and descriptive name for the project or campaign.
    • Limit this to a few meaningful words to ensure brevity.
  6. [Dimension]:
    • Indicates specific dimensions, if applicable, in the format WidthxHeight (e.g., 1080x1920).
  7. [Version]:
    • Denotes the version or status of the file.
    • Common tags:
      • v1, v2, etc., for versions.
      • DRAFT for drafts.
      • FINAL for final versions.
      • ARC for archived files.

Best Practices

  • Keep file names short yet descriptive.
  • Avoid using special characters (!@#$%^&*); only use hyphens (-) or underscores (_).
  • Maintain consistency across all file types and projects.
