Hosting content on your WordPress site
Understanding how to host content on your WordPress site.
One of the perks of hosting your website on WordPress is that you can use the Media Library to host assets like PDFs and other documents that can easily be shared using their generated link. So, how do you add content and share it?
Instructions
- Open WordPress and navigate to “Media.”
ℹ️ You’ll see all the assets that are currently being used on your website.
- Click the “Add New” button and upload your document.
- Click on the file and you’ll see the “Attachment Details” overview.
- Copy the URL from the “File URL” section. This is the hosted URL that you will share.
💡Tips
Make sure the filename is easily identifiable (for both internal purposes and external sharing)
❌ Avoid uploading a file with a name like wine_list_V54654.pdf but rather “document-descriptive-name-date.pdf”
✅ Include your brand name, and what the document is in as few words as possible, and if you’re uploading versions, include the date
Double-check your link before sharing
- Does it display the right file?
- Can you access it on my phone?
