Create Knowledge Base Articles in Multiple Languages
Learn how to use HubSpot's multi-language support for creating knowledge base articles that serves customers in multiple languages.
HubSpot allows you to create multi-language knowledge base articles and organize them in language groups. This helps visitors easily navigate your translated content.
Enable Multi-Language Articles
- In your HubSpot account, go to Settings (⚙️) > Content > Knowledge Base.
- Click the second dropdown at the top, then select Add/edit multi-language variations.
- In the right panel, click Add multi-language variation and select a language. Repeat for additional languages.
- (Optional) To delete a language, click the delete (🗑️) icon next to it.
- To change the primary language, use the Primary dropdown.
Translate Your Knowledge Base Template & Categories
Before translating articles, update your template and categories for a seamless user experience.
Translate the Knowledge Base Template
- Navigate to Content > Knowledge Base.
- Click Customize template (top right).
- Click Edit in the Multi-language section.
- Click [X] of [X] Filter languages, uncheck languages you don’t want to display, then Apply.
- Add translations for each template section.
- Click Publish translation, then Update template.
Translate Categories
- Navigate to Content > Knowledge Base.
- Click Organize categories (top right).
- Select a language from the filter at the top. Categories needing translation will be labeled Needs translation.
- Select a category, then click Edit (top right).
- Enter translations for Category name, description, and subcategory name.
- Click Publish.
Create a Multi-Language Article
- Go to Content > Knowledge Base > Articles.
- Hover over an article, click More, then select Create multi-language variation.
- In the dialog box, choose a Variation language or add a new one via settings. Click Save.
- Add the translated content in the editor.
- To switch between variations, use the Language dropdown at the top.
Additional options:
- Edit language: Change the variation’s language.
- Disconnect variation: Convert a variation into a separate article.
- Add more variations: Click Create multi-language variation and select another language.
When finished, click Publish to make the translated article live.
Add an Existing Article to a Multi-Language Group
If you've already created separate articles for translations, you can merge them into a language group:
- Go to Content > Knowledge Base.
- Select the checkboxes next to the articles.
- Click Add to language group (top of the table).
- Select a primary knowledge article from the dropdown.
- Click Save.
